Turkey  is a state whose territory includes the extreme eastern part of Thrace, in Europe, and the peninsula of Anatolia, traditionally considered the westernmost extension of the Asian continent. Turkey has 70 million inhabitants, mainly professanti the Muslim religion, there are smaller Christian minorities (mainly Orthodox) and Jewish.

The capital is Ankara, one of three major Turkish cities together in Smyrna (Izmir) and Istanbul (Constantinople, ancient Byzantium). This is the largest metropolis in the country and the largest industrial and commercial center, and has significant architectural and archaeological evidence that make it a center of global significance. A fabulous landscape characterized by mazes of towers, canyons, pinnacles and rock castles is what is presented to those who reach Cappadocia, magic in the center area with the cities of Nevsehir, Urgup and Avanos. The region that now takes the name of Cappadocia is much smaller than it was the old kingdom of Cappadocia in Hellenistic period. The Göreme National Park and cave sites in the region were declared World Heritage by UNESCO.

The Mediterranean side of Turkey (Türkiye Cumhuriyeti in turkish) is extended over more than a thousand kilometers.
